Young Adult Group-Redeeming Your Past to Move Forward
May 4 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, repeating until May 18, 2021
Growing up with a parent or loved one with a mental illness can be a challenging experience. At each stage of life, we process our past through a new lens. This is a group for young adults looking to see their past through a fresh perspective. As a counselor, I know the importance of owning your story. Young adults are uniquely situated to reclaim their story and take action to live their life with purpose. Redeeming your past can be an active step toward living the life you want today.
This group is specifically for young adults, ages 20-32, to build a community of support through similar life experiences. Unfortunately, mental illness still carries a stigma for families. For the family members of the person with the mental health disorder, they may experience this stigma as shame. This is a group where you can find hope in shared experience and know that you are not alone.
What you can expect from group:
- Greater understanding of the effects of mental illness in a family and its impact on yourself and your relationships
- Finding strength through your story and shared experiences
- Ways to cope with hard emotions
- How to address shame, forgive yourself, and others
- Setting healthy expectations of yourself and those around you
This class is led by professional counselor Kylie Keisling. Space is limited to a minimum of 4 participants with a maximum of 8.
